Matt + Val's Unique Engagement Shoot at Evil Twin Brewing NYC
Before I made the move down to New Orleans, I had the opportunity to photograph a great engagement session in NYC. I’ve known Matt and Val for a long time now and I was excited when they asked me to be their wedding photographer. Of course we had to do an engagement session since I include them with my all day wedding package. They weren’t exactly sure where they wanted to go, but after a little back an forth they came up with the awesome idea to have it done at Evil Twin Brewing in NYC. They’re both into craft beers and they thought that Evil Twin Brewery would be perfect.
From the street you’d never guess that there’s a green house where the brewery resides. It was such a great location to have a shoot like this. The people that ran the brewery were nice enough to let us in an hour before they opened so we could have some time to shoot uninterrupted by other visitors. Upon walking into the space, I was really inspired. It was beautifully set up and we had a lot of options as far as framing went. They also gave us free reign of the space which was really nice.

Having this whole place basically to ourselves gave me a lot of time to try a few different things around the space. I noticed there was this great green wall with some shadows coming through the ceiling of the greenhouse. It created this perfect natural frame.
When we were done with the green wall the people working at Evil Twin were nice enough to offer Matt and Val some free beer. What a great place! We took the beers over to the bar to incorporate a different view into the photos.
Before we made our way out of the brewery I wanted to incorporated a few shots with my flash. I wanted to create this intimate look in such a wide open space.
After this shot they were pretty much open for business so we grab a couple more shots and made our way out of the brewery.
